Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from the Academy of Music (the intersection of Main Street and New South Street / State Street) all the way to Strong Avenue (the road between Local and Moshi Moshi, just before the railroad bridge). The road closure will start at 4pm, so that participating entertainers and vendors can set up, and will end at approximately 9pm.
Traffic coming from Pleasant Street will be re-routed down Strong Avenue and over to Bridge and Market Streets. Traffic coming from King Street will be re-routed onto a side street (Trumbull Road, Bright Street, North Street, etc.).
We anticipate lots of traffic on the side streets around downtown, and would encourage you to arrive early!
All municipal lots will be open and accessible. These include the Armory Street, Masonic Street and Roundhouse lots (more information, including a complete listing of municipal parking lots in the area, is available HERE).
The E.J. Gare Parking Garage will also be open and accessible to all.
In addition: There will be Holiday Stroll parking made available in the Daily Hampshire Gazette parking lot, and the Northampton Senior Center parking lot, both on Conz Street. Shuttle service will be provided from those lots to the Academy of Music end of Main Street.
Satellite parking will also be available in the old Honda lot on King Street (across from Northampton Tire), with shuttle service to Main Street.
Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church has also generously opened their lot to the public for Holiday Stroll parking - an easy walk down King Street to the Holiday Stroll! (*There is no shuttle service from Saint Elizabth Ann Seton Church - only from the old Honda lot*)
The shuttles will run from 4pm - 10pm.
If your car is parked on Main Street and not moved before 4pm on Friday, December 9, you will be unable to move your vehicle until after the Stroll has ended and the street has re-opened. Please plan accordingly!
Additional handicapped parking spots will be available on the third floor of the E.J. Gare Parking Garage, marked with cones. If you do not require handicapped parking, we would encourage you to park on one of the upper floors of the garage.
